An experiment of writing a story longhand from start to finish.
Read the rules here: Writing Sumarian – Episode 1 – Rules & Introduction
This Week’s Lessons Writing a Story Longhand:
- Use boxes for admin notes. For example, structure of work (long, novella, series, etc.)
- If you forget to include something earlier, write it out where you are and use arrows. This is rudimentary until you figure out something better later.
- If you’re drawing a blank, reread prior pages and start with whatever comes to your mind next. You can put the pieces together and in order later. (See the Lily Pad” method.)
- Focus on getting through to the end of the story. Once you feel like you’ve plugged all the holes, go back and transcribe. You can use Otter.ai. It’ll be faster and you’ll have your audio along with the text in case the app produces errors in the text when transcribing. (But that rarely occurs with Otter.ai.)
