Writing Sumarian – Episode 6 – Cheat if You Must

An experiment of writing a story longhand from start to finish. Read the rules of the challenge here: Writing Sumarian – Episode 1 – Rules & Introduction.

This Week’s Lesson(s) on Writing a Story Longhand:

I had unfortunately used up half the page for Chapter 3 on Chapter 2 stuff. It just kept coming to me and I needed to write it down. Is that cheating? Yes. Will I mind being in handcuffs? Probably not, so you’ll have to get more creative with your punishment.

Other ways of cheating: even if you stop, start again. Set a weekly goal that seems to be more misses than hits? Start up again when you can and keep going. Doesn’t matter if you dropped the ball a couple of times. Keep it going. Ultimate goal is to get to the end. As long as you’re still on the path, you’re winning.

Soundtrack

I couldn’t find the right kind of instrumental to listen to, so I created one for my 2nd channel:

(I need upbeat/energetic stuff to stay awake & focus, the other lo-fi/piano/hip-hop instrumentals do too good of a job relaxing me. Snoring on the notebook isn’t going to get those words written.)

Free Wallpapers

1. Writing Anthem/Motto Wallpaper

(Was also available on the last post.) Keeping it here as a reminder/silent anthem until this is done.

Hope it helps you remember as well that:

2. Pom’s Beats – “Almost Before We Knew It, We Had Left the Ground”

Quote from a song by Niskala. But loved it. Isn’t that how really great adventures usually start? When your feet have suddenly left the ground.

Quick Summary of Page(s)

She wakes up drenched & spots a black cat with strange deformity on its back next to her. She goes home to be yelled at by her mother for going to the swamp again. Her mother fusses, forces her to shower & change into dry clothes and head to bed for the night. All through the night she experiences a lot of strange dreams. She feels her eyes are sore and her whole body tingles as if there were hundreds of those tiny spiders they saw in the woods were crawling all over her. She wakes up to see her appearance has changed.
